Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Local Lodge 2921 is calling nominations for negotiating committee members.\u00a0 The NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE will consist of 10 members plus an IAM Business Representative comprising of three (3) Senior Shop Stewards and an additional seven (7) members elected by the membership:

\u2022 three (3) from Terminal 1,<\/strong>
\u2022 three (3) from Terminal 3, and<\/strong>
\u2022 one (1) from Toronto Island.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominations & Elections for this position are as follows:
\n<\/strong>
\nDate of Nomination:<\/strong> <\/strong>May 21\n2020<\/strong> at Sheraton Gateway Hotel\nat 14:00 hrs.
\n(Monthly Membership Meeting)
\nDate of Election: June 11 2020 <\/strong>at Sheraton Gateway Hotelat\n0700-2100hrs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligibility:<\/strong> Members in attendance may accept nomination. Members who are\nnot present may be nominated, but they MUST have a letter on file with the\nRecording Secretary stating that they will accept nomination for that\nparticular office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifications and expectations for the Negotiating Committee members are as follows:

1.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Must be a member in good standing, meaning has signed an IAM card as of May 21, 2019

2.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Must have been employed at Garda for at least one year, as per Article 3.7<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must have attended at least fifty percent (50%) of the regular Local Lodge monthly meetings in the\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 preceding twelve (12) months of their nomination.

4.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Nominator must also be an IAM member in good standing.

5.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The training will be in the USA at the IAM\u2019s Winpisinger Education Centre in Maryland, and anyone seeking the position as a Negotiating Committee member must understand and be able to commit to the following:

a.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Be able to travel to the USA

b.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Be able to attend the Negotiations training at the Winpisinger Education Centre between August 16 through to August 21, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bylaw of Local Lodge no. 2921 Article 2 Section H<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for any member to be eligible for\nnomination to a Local Lodge office or committee, shop steward, delegate, or any\nLocal Lodge sponsored convention, conference or seminar, the member must be in\ngood standing for a period of one (1) year and have attended at least fifty\npercent (50%) of the regular Local Lodge monthly meetings in the preceding\ntwelve (12) months of their nomination.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bylaw of Local Lodge no. 2921\nArticle 2 Section I
\n<\/em><\/strong>A member may be excused from attendance to the Local Lodge monthly\nmeeting due to work schedule, employer out of town assignment, sick leave,\nbereavement leave, compassionate leave, union business, or scheduled vacation.\nIn these cases the member will be considered as having been in attendance. Evidence in\nsupport of any excused attendance must be provided to the Recording Secretary prior to or at the time of nomination.<\/strong><\/em><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bylaw of Local Lodge no. 2921\nArticle 6 Section E<\/em><\/strong> Subsection (i<\/em><\/strong>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each Negotiating\nCommittee member shall <\/em>be nominated and elected from\nand by the members employed at each airport terminal<\/em><\/strong> for a period equal to the term of the\ncollective agreement, with the exception of all the Chief Stewards who\nautomatically hold a position once appointed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
