Dear Brothers and Sisters: The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) is scheduled to hear the first ever case dealing with the application of the essential services provisions of the Canada Labour Code to airport Pre-Board Screeners.

The general monthly membership meeting will take place on Thursday February 21st .  The meeting will run from 14:00 to 17:00 and will be held at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Interlaken room located in the terminal 3 departures level.

As many of you may already be aware, Garda will no longer be contributing to the Desjardins group RRSP as they will now be making contributions to the IAM Pension fund.

As the result of the recent new collective agreement, we now have an employer-paid pension under the IAM Multi-Employer Pension Plan.  You have recently received an enrolment form to fill out and return.  Please do so. More information on the pension plan will be available soon and pension information meetings will be held in the next few weeks in the workplace. We will advise you of the time and place shortly. In March 2012, the Toronto Airport Screeners chose the IAMAW as their bargaining agent and inherited close to 300 unsettled CAWU grievances.  These grievors were in a situation where they paid the dues but received no representation, especially the 30 screeners terminated in 2010/2011!
