A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE –Violation of Your Rights!
The previous Union Representatives know as the CAWU violated their own constitution numerous times by refusing to hold quarterly membership meetings, elections and provide you with an audit of their finances.
The CAWU spent thousands of your Union dues dollars going to court to strip away the rights of the membership allowing them to elect your Executive Representatives. The judge ruled against the case and found them to be in violation of their own constitution.
Following the court decision and election of the Executive, the Executive team refused to accept or acknowledge their elected President. The Executive team again spent countless of Union dues dollars to illegally remove him from office, violating your rights.
The disloyalty continued
The Letter of Understanding # 7 was signed approximately ONE YEAR AFTER the Collective Agreement was signed. It overrode other provisions of the Collective Agreement and remained in secrecy for over 2 years. What was ratified as a group was overridden by the signature of ONE INDIVIDUAL who signed it in secrecy!
The Letter of Understanding # 7 resulted in countless layoffs which lead to the loss of full time status for many. After a long and difficult struggle the IAMAW ensured all those effected by LOU # 7 were returned to their original state.
