Correcting the Record

Lately, many Screeners at YYZ have been outraged!

Screeners have been telling us that the CAWU have been taking credit for bringing screeners back to work after the company took action against some of them this fall.

Let’s be clear about a few things: 
•    Screeners had little or no representation from the CAWU after they were terminated.
•    When Screeners were asked to meet with the company, the CAWU mostly never bothered to even show up except for their own hardcore supporters.
•    There were no CAWU lawyers present to provide any legal advice on screeners rights and priveliges.
•    Farooq Hamid, your legally elected President, who the CAWU have consistently tried to remove from his post by unethical means, was present at your meetings with the company. You trusted him and you asked him to be present at those meetings. He didn’t disappoint you.
•    You were brought back to work because you were innocent of all charges NOT because the CAWU did anything to help!

When the CAWU folks start telling about how they brought members back – tell them you know the real story. And tell them you support the IAM.
