TORONTO BASED MEMBERS WORKING FOR GARDAWORLD ORGANIZING CAMPAIGN
Dear Brothers & Sisters:
As you may have heard, the IAMAW Transportation District 140 conducted an SPM organizing campaign at the Toronto Airports. This morning (September 13, 2017), our legal counsel filed an Application for Certification with the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for this group.
Unfortunately, it appears to the IAMAW that the employer has chosen to retaliate against this organizing campaign by conducting unfair labour practices in an attempt to deny these workers the right to union representation, including the recent termination of two (2) employees and the issuance of a Letter of Suspension to our General Chairperson Bro. Barry Barnett for assisting these workers with their rights to join a union.
This will simply not be tolerated by our Organization!
As such, your Union has instructed legal counsel to file unfair labour practices against GardaWorld as no worker should be denied the right to join a Union in this country!
Bro. Barnett is an employee of Transportation District 140 of the IAMAW and he will continue to be the General Chairperson assigned to represent our Members working for GardaWorld at the Toronto Airports.
