ATTENTION ALL IAMAW LOCAL LODGE 2921 MEMBERS-DISTRICT LODGE 140 BYLAW AMENDMENT ARTICLE 5 SECTION 5.03 & 5.04

The proposed District Lodge 140 By-Law Amendment was read out at the April 19, 2018 General Membership Meeting. The Second reading and voting are to take place at the May 17, 2018 General Membership Meeting.

Proposed Bylaw Amendment to District 140 Bylaw ARTICLE V- DISTRICT LODGE OFFICERS    

Article 5 Section 5.03.
Original

There shall be three (3) affiliated groups. Members employed by Air Canada will be considered Air Transport. Members employed as an Airport Screener in the Central region will be considered Airport Screeners. Any other group in Transportation shall be known as Service.

Section 5.03 Amendment

There shall be three (3) affiliated groups. Members employed by Air Canada will be considered Air Transport. Members employed as an Airport Screener will be considered Airport Screeners. Any other group in Transportation shall be known as Service.

Reason for Amendment: To allow Airport Screeners their own Executive Board position in the west, so that the service groups in that region have an opportunity to represent their Members with an Executive Board seat.

Each region shall have three Board Members. One (1) member from Air Transport, one (1) member from Transportation Service and one (1) member at large. Each region shall hold a “regional caucus” during the Convention, attempting to reach consensus on their Board members. Failing consensus, the delegates to the Convention will cast the deciding ballot.

 Section 5.04 Amendment

 Each region shall have four (4) Board Members. One (1) member from Air Transport, one (1) member from Transportation Service, 1 member from Airport Screeners and one (1) member at large. Until such time as the Eastern region organize a Screener group, the fourth (4th) Executive Board Member will belong to a Representative from the Atlantic region. Each region shall hold a “regional caucus” during the Convention, attempting to reach consensus on their Board members. Failing consensus, the delegates to the Convention will cast the deciding ballot.

Reason for Amendment: To give the Airport Screeners and their large Membership in the Western and Central regions a seat on the Executive Board, while also giving the Atlantic region a seat back.
