NOMINATIONS – Negotiations Committee

The NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE will consist of 10 members plus an IAM Business Representative comprising of three (3)Senior Shop Stewards and an additional seven (7) members elected by the membership:

• three (3) from Terminal 1,
• three (3) from Terminal 3, and
• one(1) from Toronto Island.

are now open and will close on April 4, 2012 at 1700 hrs.

Qualifications and expectations for the Negotiating Committee members are as follows:
1.    Must be a member in good standing, meaning has signed an IAM card as of December 31, 2011
2.    Must have been employed at Garda for at least one year, as per Article 23.2
3.    Nominator must also be an IAM member in good standing.
4.    The training will be in the USA at the IAM’s Winpisinger Education Centre in Maryland, and anyone seeking the position as a Negotiating Committee member must understand and be able to commit to the following:
a.    Must have a valid Canadian passport
b.    Have a criminal-free record to be able to travel into the USA
c.    Be able to travel to the USA
d.    Be able to attend the Negotiations training at the Winpisinger Education Centre between May 5 through to May 11, 2012
• All travel, accommodations and meals will be paid by the IAM for negotiations preparation training.
• The IAM will make arrangements with Garda for time clearance from work.
Negotiating Committee nomination forms are available from IAM representatives Robert Savoie or Carlos DaCosta.
To submit a nomination form, the rules are the same as for the Shop Steward positions, and can be submitted by fax, scanned and emailed, or submitted in person to an IAM representative such as Robert Savoie, or Carlos DaCosta.
If an election is required for Shop Stewards or for Negotiating Committee members, it shall take place on April 11, 2012. Further details will follow.
NOTE: ANY REFERENCE TO MEMBER MEANS THAT HE OR SHE MUST HAVE SIGNED AN IAM CARD AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2011
