2022 40th Grand Lodge Convention Delegates
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Please be advised that Local Lodge 2921 will be accepting nominations for the following:
- 3 Delegates to attend the 2022 40th Grand Lodge Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada
(October 2- 7 2022)
Nominations & Elections for this position are as follows:
Date of Nomination: April 21 2022 at Sheraton Gateway Hotel at 14:00 hrs (Membership Meeting)
Date of Election: May 19 2022 at Sheraton Gateway Hotelat 0700-2100hrs.
Eligibility: Members in attendance may accept nomination. Members who are not present may be nominated, but they MUST have a letter on file with the Recording Secretary stating that they will accept nomination for that particular office/position.
Bylaw of Local Lodge no. 2921 Article 2 Section H
In order for any member to be eligible for nomination to a Local Lodge office or committee, shop steward, delegate, or any Local Lodge sponsored convention, conference or seminar, the member must be in good standing for a period of one (1) year and have attended at least fifty percent (50%) of the regular Local Lodge monthly meetings in the preceding twelve (12) months of their nomination.
In order to qualify for this position, you must have signed an IAM card as of April 21 2021 & MUST be in Good Standing.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the cancellation of General Meetings, nominees and nominators do not have to meet the eligibility requirements concerning attendance of fifty percent (50%) of the Local Lodge monthly meetings.
Absentee Ballots: IAMAW CONSTITUTION – ARTICLE II – SECTION 3
Members who reside in outlying Districts more than 25 miles from the designated balloting place, members who are either confined because of a verified illness or on leave qualifying under U.S. and Canadian family leave laws, or on vacation, or on official I.A.M. business approved by the Local Lodge or District Lodge or Grand Lodge, or on an employer travel assignment, or reserve military leave, as the case may be, shall be furnished absentee ballots.
Members applying for an absentee ballot on the basis of residing in an outlying district more than 25 miles from the designated balloting place, shall have their eligibility to vote by absentee ballot determined by the Recording Secretary and the Secretary Treasurer before the ballot is mailed. Members found not to be eligible to vote by absentee ballot will be so notified within 10 days of the receipt of their application.
If any members have concerns about voting in person at the election meeting due to Covid-19 (for example they or members of their family are in an at-risk group, or they are subject to quarantine) they may request an absentee ballot and mark the box which indicates that they are unable to vote due to illness or injury.
Members applying for Absentee Ballots must do so in by submitting a request via the Absentee ballot form tab located on the Local Lodge website: Screeners.iamaw.ca
Deadline for Absentee Ballots: April 20 2022
