100 new Screening Officer positions and Seniority-based Shift Selection Process

TO: IAM Union Members at Garda at Toronto Pearson Airport and lsland Airport

Garda has told us that because of many airline flight schedule changes and an increase in passenger traffic, more full-time Screening Officers are required. There will be approximately an additional 100 full-time screening Officer positions created now, and there will be no lay-offs.

In order to meet these flight schedule requirements, everyone will have to do a shift selection by seniority later this month. Every screening officer will select his or her shift based ONLY on your Screening Officer SENIORITY.

To be clear, the most senior Screening Officer will select their shift first and then the next senior and so on.

We view this as a positive step towards undoing some of the wrongs done by the CAWU in the past.

There will be NO FAVOURITISM. Seniority will be the only deciding factor in the shift you get.
