Summer Shifts 2012
The Union was informed by Garda that they were going to impose new shifts for the summer of 2012 based on Article 9 of the current collective agreement.
As a result, and to protect members from being displaced from their current positions without a choice of where they would go, we attempted to minimize the damage.
Your selection will be based on Terminal Seniority as per Article 7 of the current collective agreement.
The company agreed to establish as many full-time positions as possible and, in fact, there are approximately 100 new full-time positions.
Contrary to rumours, I want to make it clear that this shift selection process was NOT the decision of your Negotiating Committee, but the result of Garda’s requirement to implement shifts to satisfy the needs of the airlines and CATSA.
In solidarity,
Lou Pagrach
