SEE YOU AT LABOUR DAY!

Thousands of working people will march in the Labour Day parade on Monday September 3rd, filling the streets in celebration of the achievements and collective strength of workers. This year, the parade brings a unified message against the austerity agenda.

The parade kicks off at 9:30 am from Queen and University and marches to the Dufferin Gates of the CNE. This year the program and line-up along with solidarity messages appear digitally on our website www.labourcouncil.ca<http://www.labourcouncil.ca/> – you can check it out now!

The message on austerity is particularly timely – as the Ontario government seeks to abrogate the collective bargaining rights of education workers. Outsourcing decent jobs, cutting public services, and attacking collective bargaining do not make for a good economic plan. The fact is we cannot cut our way back to prosperity. The attack by the McGuinty government on education workers is a bitter reminder that the overall Austerity Agenda is not just a product of conservatives – it is what big business is demanding from all politicians in recent years.

No matter who is being attacked, the Labour Council is calling on all working people to unite behind workers defending their jobs and the standard of living of the next generation.
