Toronto, ON – Garda Airport Screeners at Toronto’s Pearson Airport found that they have much in common with their counterparts in Vancouver. They made this discovery during a surprise visit Tuesday night by IAMAW Local Lodge 16 President Rick Singh, Shop Steward Derek Rose and Zaineb Ghlayem – airport screeners from Vancouver employed by Aeroguard. The Vancouver trio, are on a three-day visit to Toronto for talks with the Garda screeners, promoting the advantages of being members of the IAM.

CATSA has just announced the names of the companies with winning bids for providing security at airports across Canada. They are: Aeroguard, Garda, Securitas and G4S. CATSA has divided Canada into four regions and awards airport security contracts to companies based on those regions. These are: Western, Prairies, Central and Eastern Canada. OTTAWA—Fraudulent or duplicated boarding passes could be used by imposters to get onboard aircraft at Canadian airports, a potential weakness that could be exploited for “attacks,” a government review says. Screeners from IAM Vancouver Local 16 will be at Toronto airports next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday August 10, 11 and 12  to meet and greet employees working for Garda.
