Bringing Respect to Toronto Airport Screeners
The IAM met with Garda yesterday to discuss the Garda screeners’ layoff. We were successful in minimizing the layoff numbers, but not all. Since we don’t believe the announced screener layoff is within the rules and the spirit of the collective agreement, the IAM is filing a grievance. We will keep you posted of any further development. Read moreIn a meeting today, Garda informed the IAM that they will lay off 206 Full Time Screeners and replace them with 237 Part Timers as early as November 28. These devastating cuts announced by Garda will have a negative impact on all Screeners and the traveling public.
