ALL IAM & AW MEMBERS SERVISAIR – TORONTO & MONTRÉAL SERVISAIR / HANDLEX MERGER
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
On April 2, 2013 the IAM & AW attended a meeting at the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) held under s.18.1(2)(a) of the Canada Labour Code, regarding the possible Union representational structure as a result of the Servisair/Handlex merger. Servisair and all the Unions that represent Members involved in the Servisair/Handlex merger have been part of this Board process.
No agreement could be reached and the Board has directed all parties to file submissions at the Board by April 18, 2013. The IAM & AW will be filing submissions at the Board taking the position that the Board should preserve all of the employee units that currently benefit the Members of the IAM & AW in Toronto and Montréal.
In addition, the IAM & AW will be filing a Common Employer Application with the Canada Industrial Relations Board in relation to Servisair and Servisair De-Icing Company, in order to protect the seniority and Bargaining Unit rights of all of our Members in Toronto.
The IAM & AW is committed to fighting at the Board to protect your current strong broad-based units and the current scope of your seniority rights. Please understand, however, that the Board may take some time to resolve these matters.
As more information becomes available regarding this matter it will be communicated. In Solidarity,
Fred Hospes, President and Directing General Chairperson Transportation District 140, IAM & AW
