NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE NO. 2
During the week of February 10 your Negotiations Committee met with Garda.
The main focus during the week was improving the working conditions of screening officers by:
a) Union involvement in the actual development and bidding of the work schedule. Ensuring that the schedule bid upon is actually worked and if needed the daily transfers between T1 / T3 is done in a fair manner
b) Improvements in breaks
c) Improvements in vacations and bidding
d) Improvements in Leave of Absence (LOA) process
e) Improvements in Shift Give Away Process
f) Improvements in Safety and Health (Dosimeters and NPSV)
g) Introduction of TTL positions
In regards to monetary issues:
a) We made it very clear we would NOT agree to employees paying any portion of parking costs – pay employee who does not drive same amount
b) Putting a twenty percent (20%) cap on use of part time employees and providing the part time employees with sick days, Stat Holidays and full benefits.
c) Increase sick days by – First year two (2) additional days, Second year one (1) additional day and Third year one (1) additional day
d) Increase Pension contributions to double the existing amount over three (3) years.
e) Increase wages
We can only achieve these goals by staying united and working together.
