Negotiations Update 14 August, 2012

During the evening of August 13, 2012 your Negotiating Committee and Garda agreed to a new collective agreement that will be brought to you to vote on. We unanimously recommend acceptance of this agreement. The HRSDC has advised today that Mr. Buck Reed has been chosen as the Conciliation Officer/Mediator to finalize the outstanding issues of the Collective Agreement. 100 new Screening Officer positions and Seniority-based Shift Selection Process

TO: IAM Union Members at Garda at Toronto Pearson Airport and lsland Airport Garda has told us that because of many airline flight schedule changes and an increase in passenger traffic, more full-time Screening Officers are required. There will be approximately an additional 100 full-time screening Officer positions created now, and there will be no lay-offs.
